Obituary of John J. McFadden III
John J. 'Jack' McFadden III, a resident of Abington, formerly of Hartsville, peacefully passed away Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. He was 93.
Born in Philadelphia, Jack was the son of the late John J. and Genevieve M. (Tyrell) McFadden Jr.
Jack was the loving husband of the late Margaret M. McFadden; and the late Marian McFadden. He is survived by his children, John J. 'Jack' McFadden (Gail), Kathleen Ramey, and William 'Bill' McFadden (Barbara); brother of Joseph F. McFadden, Margaret M. Lee, and the late Marie T. McFadden; grandfather of George, John, John Andrew, Brian, Katie, and Kimmy; great grandfather of Ashlie, Shawn, Zack, Lydia, and Reagan; and his loving companion, Terry Kaiss.
Jack served in the Seabees during World War II, with assignments in Okinawa, and the Aleutian Islands.
During his career, Jack worked as an electrician, TV repairman, church bell installer, and computer controlled machinery repairman. He retired from Pennwalt Corp. as maintenance foreman. He was truly a 'Jack-of-All-Trades' who could fix anything.
Jack was a founding parishioner of St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church, and served as an usher, and did maintenance work for more than 40 years.
Jack was a life member of the Hartsville Fire Company No. 1, and active in the Buckaroos, Dixie Derby's and Lentz's Lofters square dance clubs. He attended 12 national square dance conventions, and served on two organizing committees.
Relatives and friends may call at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov 17, at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church, 1410 Almshouse Road, Jamison, PA 18929. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Assembly for interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park will be 9 a.m. Friday, at Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home, 529 N. York Rd., Hatboro. Procession will leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. There will be no morning viewing.
