Margaret Lee

Obituary of Margaret Mary Lee

Margaret Mary Lee of Warminster died Saturday, December 10, 2016. Born in 1925 to Genevieve Tyrrell and John J McFadden Jr., she grew up in the East Falls section of Philadelphia, in St. Bridget's parish. Margaret graduated from John W Hallahan High School for Girls in 1943. Every teacher she had through her twelve years of schooling was a nun, except her cello teacher who was a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She played cello in the orchestra at Hallahan and three times performed at the Academy of Music. After high school she worked as a civilian employee of the US Army Signal Corps during World War II and after. In 1950 she married Gerald Austin Lee. They were married for 45 years until his death in 1995. Her husband was a Villanova alumnus and she spent many Saturday afternoons in the fall sitting next to him at Villanova football games, often with some children in tow. Margaret and her late husband were active in their Catholic faith and she was pleased that her husband was once featured in The Catholic Standard and Times. She was also pleased that her eight children graduated from Archbishop Wood High School. Peggy's cousin, Sister Claire Sullivan, IHM, served as a missionary in South America for 40 years. Peggy is survived by six sons, two daughters and seventeen grandchildren: Gerald and Heather Lee of West Chester, Chris and Alex; Loretta McDonnell of Warminster, Lauren; Terry and Jean Lee of Doylestown, Patrick, Nicholas; Joe and Linda Lee of State College, Ryan, Kelly; Carol and Vince Shervin of Glenside, Jaclyn, Colleen, Matthew; Thomas and Martina Lee of Coatesville, Alexandria; John Lee of Chalfont, Rachel, Rebecca; Bob and Quinn Lee of Lansdale, Michael, Julia, Austin and Mary Kate. Peggy is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Declan, Killian, Hannah, Chase, Pierce, Mackenzie, Riley, Oliver and Genevieve. She was preceded in death by her sister Marie, brother Jack and daughter-in-law Jeannette Lara Lee. She is survived by her brother Joe McFadden and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Peggy devoted her life to raising her eight children and spent much time and energy helping with her grandchildren, who loved going to Mom-Mom's and visited often. She will be missed by them all and many others who were fortunate to know her. We miss you Mom, Mom-Mom, Gom, Great-Mom-Mom and Great Gom. Relatives and friends invited to call Friday, December 16 from 9:00 to 11:00AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington.
