Obituary of Domenica Speranza

Domenica Speranza, of Horsham, after too short a battle with Mesothelioma, went peacefully home to our Lord on Wednesday, February 28th 2018.

She was born in Brattiro, a small town in Calabria, Italy on January 2^nd 1939.  She was the daughter of the late Franco and Rosa (Petracca) Pulicari.   She was a farm girl with a 6^th grade education. 

She married Pasquale Speranza in 1964 and immigrated to the United States in 1966, where they became citizens 10 years later.  They enjoyed 47 years of marriage until his death in 2012.

She is survived by a sister and two brothers in Italy and by two of her three children, Michael (Christa) Speranza and Frank Speranza.  Her daughter Rose (John) Kreuzburg preceded her in death 3-1/2 years ago.

She was Nonna to her seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Benjamin, Victoria, Patrick, Gianna, Angela, and Danny and she loved them and spoiled them too much.

She worked for more than 25 years at the Pennsylvania Retired Persons (AARP) Pharmacy in Warminster.  She was active in her parish  – she was a daily communicant, an adult altar-server and a member of the Senior’s group.  She enjoyed doing for others.

Mimma, as she was known to family and friends, was an amazing cook.  She spoiled her family with homemade pasta and the best meatballs (perfect size, consistency and taste:-).  She also maintained an enormous vegetable garden and fed her family year-round from its bounty.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday March 6th 6 to 8 P.M. and Wednesday March 14th 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home 529 N. York Rd. Hatboro. Funeral Mass Wednesday March 14th 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Church Countyline and Easton Rd. Warrington. Interment Whitemarsh Memorial Park Horsham.
