Obituary of Josephine Accardi

Josephine Accardi 1917-2020 Josephine Accardi (nee Oddo) daughter of the late Salvatore and Ursula (Mercante) Oddo passed away on February 20th at the age of 102. She is the loving mother of Anthony Accardi and his wife Mary Ellen and of Rev. Joseph Accardi. She is also survived by her grandson, Jonathan Accardi and his wife, Alison, granddaughter, Alison O'Brien and her husband Shane as well as four great-grandchildren, Siena, Christopher, Emma and Jade. She was welcomed into heaven by her grandson, Christopher Accardi. Josephine was born and raised in Philadelphia and spent the latter part of her life in Willow Grove. She was one of eight children and enjoyed nothing more than having large family gatherings where there was always plenty of wine, pies and chocolate, her favorite indulgences. She enjoyed crocheting while watching her favorite "shows". She was proud to gift her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her beautiful creations. She loved to bake especially trays of cookies for the holidays. She took great pride in keeping her house "as neat as a pin" but was quick to drop everything to join her sisters and friends on a bus trip to the casinos. The family will welcome relatives and friends from 10 to 11 A.M. on Friday, February 28th at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7341 Cottage St., Philadelphia, PA 19136 with a funeral mass to follow at 11 A.M. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Josephine's name to Catholic Charites ( Catholiccharitiesappeal.org).
