Obituary of Helen McElwee
Helen McElwee (nee Koch) passed away on April 27, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born in Philadelphia to the late George and Helen (Finney)Koch. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jack McElwee, Sr. and preceded in death by her brothers John (Betty) Koch and George (Mary) Koch.
Helen is the loving mother of Jack McElwee, Jr and his wife Dot, Bob McElwee and his wife Jayne, Chris McElwee and his wife Joanne and Paul McElwee. She is the loving grandmother of Sean (Tarah) McElwee, Kari McElwee, Ashley McElwee, Laurel McElwee, CJ McElwee, Daniel Rogus, and Molly Rogus; loving great grandmother to Aidan Kang and soon to be born son of Sean and Tarah. Helen was loved by Jack Milligan, Jess Milligan, Shannon Milligan, Kris Seegmuller, her many nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends, and will be deeply missed.
Helen was the youngest of three and graduated from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia. She grew up in Philadelphia, married in 1956 and settled in Cobalt Ridge, Levittown, PA, with her husband. They moved to Hatboro, PA raising four sons and she worked as an administrative assistant in Upper Moreland High School in Willow Grove, PA. She and Jack finally settled in Anne’s Choice of Warminster, PA living there for the last thirteen years. Helen was an avid bowler and loved to spend time at the Upper Moreland Swim Club. She was a supporter of the arts, attending her son Paul’s numerous plays and musicals. She loved attending and cheering for her grandchildren and great grandchild at their sporting and musical events. She loved playing cards, spending time with her friends and collecting owl figurines; and she could count backwards by sevens from one hundred.
A private mass will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Warminster, PA. Interment will be private at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA. A family and friend gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
