Obituary of Sarah Ann Velas

Sarah Ann Velas ( Sally ) 88 of Warrington, passed away quietly at home on September 1st, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born in July of 1933 to the late James and Annie Shields, Sally grew up in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. At the age of 16 she left high school to work as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company, to help support her family, when Sally’s father was laid off his job. She worked at Bell Telephone until the day she got married. In May of 1954 she married her husband Andrew, to whom she has been married to for 67 years, and loving raised four children. Sally was proud of her Irish heritage, traveling to Ireland twice. Sally and Andy travelled extensively to Europe, going on cruises, and traveling in an RV across the U.S. Sally loved being with her family and friends, cooking dinners and having parties. Sally most pride and joy was spending time and caring for her seven grandchildren. She is survived by the love of her life, Andrew, and her four children, Michelle, Sarah Sutton, Andrew ( Sue ), Martin (Ronnie). Sally is also survived by her seven grandchildren, her three great grandchildren and her surviving sister Kathleen Zynwala. Preceded in death by her sister Mary Thresa Sharples, Eileen Shields, and two brothers, Daniel and James Shields.
