Obituary of Helen T. Gallagher
Helen T. Gallagher (age 95), entered the gates of heaven peacefully on
Thursday, October 27th, 2022. Helen was born July 9th, 1927 in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Irene and James Gallagher. She
was a graduate of Saint Athanasius grade school (1941) and later Little
Flower High School (1945). Helen was an esteemed executive
secretary. She worked at Triangle Publications, Arthur Young &
Company and GBL and W. She served on the Board of Directors for the
Agape Camp Fire Program from 1976-1988 and was President from
1988-1990.
Helen’s greatest joy was nurturing her nieces and nephews: Kevin
(Peggy) (the late Lily) Gallagher, Marybeth (John) Nevulis, Jamie
(Marybeth), Kathryn, Christine (the late Peter) Shields, Sean (Barb),
Anne Marie (Michael) Martin, Matthew (Gina), Daniel (Laura). She was
also extremely proud of her sixteen great nieces and nephews and her
great great-niece and nephew. She is preceded in death by her brother
& sister-in-law, James and Catherine Gallagher, her parents, Irene and
James Gallagher, and her aunts, Marie Patton and Alice Ritchie.
Helen had a strong Catholic faith, demonstrated through her generosity
and service to others. She was hardworking, quick-witted and always
had her nose in a book. Often sharing a story from the past, her sharp
memory made her the de facto family historian. She never forgot a
birthday, commemorated with a card signed “God Bless”. Helen had
exquisite taste, a keen eye for decorating and loved to host a good
party. She valued quality time with family and friends and found pride
in keeping them all connected.
Helen loved to spend her summers in Longport, NJ with her dear Mom,
Irene, her Aunt Marie, and her brother Jimmy’s family. She renovated
her Longport bungalow to accommodate our ever growing family. We
are blessed to have an aunt who was so loving and giving. We have
many fond memories in Longport and this home remains the central
gathering place for our family. Her legacy lives on in each of us.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7 th , 2022 from 9:30 AM to
10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at Saint Philip Neri
