Obituary of Rev. John F. Bowe
Rev. John F. Bowe of Villa St. Joseph, passed away on March 13th at age 77. He was the youngest child of the late Matthew A. Bowe and Mary C. Bowe. He is survived by his brother Matthew A. Bowe Jr. (Elizabeth). He was predeceased by his brothers Patrick & Timothy.
He was a devoted uncle to 3 nieces and 1 nephew (Patricia J. Gills (Joseph), Cynthia B. Spitznagel (John), Catherine F. von Hoyer (Andre), Matthew A. Bowe, III) and 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
Fr. Bowe graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and attended St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He was ordained in 1973. Fr. Bowe served within the Church for nearly four decades at many Philadelphia area parishes. Fr. Bowe served as a military chaplain in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1983 - 2004.
Fr. Bowe made many lifelong friends in the priesthood. Fr. Bowe spent his last years living independently at Villa St. Joseph. His caring nature and sense of humor will be remembered and missed.
Relatives, friends, and Clergy are invited to the Reception of The Body Tuesday, March 19th at 9:15 A.M. followed by viewing 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church 316 E. Broadway Av., Clifton Heights, PA. Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA 1:00 P.M.
