Richard Grandfield

Obituary of Richard Grandfield

Richard (Rich) Grandfield passed peacefully at home in the early morning hours of April 3rd. Raised in Hatboro, he grew up playing any and all sports, which lead to a lifetime of connection to physical fitness. He served his country with distinction in the US Army as a parachute rigger with the 600th Quartermaster Company.

Rich owned and operated his own successful business and for well over a decade before he retired, got to work closely with his son Geoff. He was a caring father, who never missed a game, race, meet, or match that his children competed in (Alison, Kate, and Geoff). Even after his children were no longer in competitive sports, he continued to be a referee for soccer in local and regional matches. Both he and Geoff shared a life-long love of soccer and following their favorite teams.

He was a great listener and an even better conversationalist. He could connect to anyone that he met. He was the best of neighbors – shoveling people’s (often hilly) driveways after it snowed, doing treework, and simply helping out whenever he could.

Rich was married to Pat, the love of his life for 45 years. They were a team and supported each other through everything – creating a home, raising good humans, and towards the end, supporting each other in health adversities.

Rich was the best of Pop-Pop’s, adored and loved by his four grandchildren. He loved donuts, ice cream, and Grayson’s brownies, the love of which he passed along to them, Graeme, Grayson, Alex, and Mallory.

He was a uniquely good person, he is loved, and he will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, we are donating a tree in his memory to Warminster Parks and Recreation. Contributions can be made in his name by contacting them directly: In The Parks - Warminster Township

A celebration of life will be held later in the spring.
