Obituary of Edward F. Gutekunst Sr.

Edward F. Gutekunst, Sr., age 87, of Warminster, PA. passed away on April 6, 2024. Born July 9, 1936, Edward was the son of the late Edward A. and Catherine A. (Murray) Gutekunst. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Klein) Gutekunst. He is survived by his children, Edward Gutekunst, Andrew Gutekunst and Carol Lynn Riker, his son-in-law William Riker and his two grandchildren, Liam Riker and Keira Riker. He was preceded in death by his brother Francis James (Jim) Gutekunst and his sister Loretta A. Marchione. Edward was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and LaSalle College. Edward served in the United States Navy and was proud of his service, always displaying a patriotic enthusiasm for the military and the country. He grew up in the Tacony section of Philadelphia, moving to Warminster where he resided in the same home since the summer of 1963, and where he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.  Ed enjoyed a good game of golf and spent many fun times with his buddies on the links.  Ed was for many years, the owner of The Wheaton Company, a resistance spot welding distributorship, enjoying working alongside his children Andrew and Carol Lynn until his unofficial retirement in 2021. Ed and Kathleen vacationed with their children throughout many parts of the east coast, from Canada to Florida, frequently camping and creating wonderful beach memories.

Relatives and friends may greet the family 9:30 A.M. Monday April15th at St. John Bosco Church 235 E. Countyline Rd. Hatboro, where Ed's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Interment is private.
