Richard Francis Cundari
Passed October 11, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by the love of his life, Christine Marie (nee Kowitz), and his five children Richard (Lauren), Christian (Abigail), Geoffrey (Elizabeth), Gina (Timothy Walters), and Dominic (Jill). He was the loving Grandpop to his 11 grandchildren, Isla, Timothy, Matteo, Lillian, Jeffrey, Nico, Cora, Mac, Daniel, Anthony, and Will. Richard is also survived by his brother Frank, and his sisters Sheila (Staniec) and Toni (Adair). He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet, his sister Sandra, and daughter Angelina.
Richard was born to an American father and an English mother in Peterborough, England. His parents met during World War II, and eventually moved to the Swampoodle neighborhood of Philadelphia circa 1946. He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1963. When he was around the age of 18, his family moved to Feasterville. On March 2, 1968, he met his bride-to-be, Christine. They married on January 31, 1970. Richard worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad which later turned into Conrail, retiring in the late 1990s. In the early 1980’s, having no previous experience or knowledge of how to drive a truck, he founded Cundari Trucking Company, growing it into a thriving business which subcontracted for the United States Postal Service in the Philadelphia area for over 40 years.
At 6’4” Richard Cundari was a big man with an even bigger heart, who was known for his love of sports, good food, his amazing intellect and wit, his love of finding a bargain, his great sense of humor, his entrepreneurial spirit and his total and complete love for his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richard’s viewing on Thursday, October 17th, at Louis Swift Plunkett Funeral Home, 529 N York Rd, Hatboro, PA 19040 from 6-8PM. A viewing will also be held Friday morning at St. John's United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Rd, Ivyland, PA 18974 from 10-10:45 AM, where services will begin at 11AM. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richard’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Donate in Richard Cundari's Memory
